What are Allergies?
Allergies are the natural response of the immune system to foreign substance. When the immune system in our body believes that certain foreign substances are harmful or dangerous, the immune system will start creating certain antibodies to protect us by destroying the substances that can pose damage to the body. Histamine is one of these antibodies, and it often causes the most noticeable effect such as runny nose, sneezing, itchy or watery eyes.

Decongestants are the other commonly used medications, which are very effective on relieving nasal congestion by reducing swelling in the nasal passages. Do keep in mind that these products typically should not be used in the long term as they can potentially turn out to make the allergies symptoms worse. Some of the allergy medications may contain both the antihistamine and decongestant.
